In the face of some really stiff competition, the current Mendicants finished in 2nd place in the 2021 ICCA West Quarterfinals (groups from Cal finished 1st and 3rd). Most of the other quarterfinals had only 5 entries - the West had 9! Unfortunately, this means they don’t progress to the regionals, but you can view their poignant and timely video entry here.
Congratulations to the guys for a truly excellent effort.
If you missed the Fall 2020 Virtual/Live Concert by the Mendicants, the wait is over. The recorded concert video (in convenient Playlist format) is now available on YouTube. Enjoy!

Surprise! Over winter break the current Mendicants filmed and released the cutest music video ever. Click here => Santa Tell Me. It’s a cover of Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me and although the holiday season may be over, it is the perfect video to cheer you up from those January blues. Special shout out to Eli Goodman ‘21 for filming, editing, directing the video and Johnny Rabe ‘22 for killing the solo. The song was arranged by Frank Willey ‘22 and Kris Kaya ‘20! We hope you enjoy!
It’s that time of year again! Our first big show of the year is going to be on February 7th at 8 PM on campus in the Geocorner (Room 320-105).
This year, we’re adding something special with the help of the Hank Adams Fund! Before our show, HAF is going to host an Alumni Wine & Cheese reception nearby to warm everyone up for the show. Families and friends of alums are welcome as well! It is going to be really fun, and you do not want to miss out. Please RSVP below and contact Chris Andrews (cbandrews@gmail.com) with any questions.
The Mendicant Alumni site has recently received a makeover from alum Scott Olmsted. Up to this point the site has been maintained by Michael “Hoodie” LaHood, and we thank Hoodie for taking on this vital task until now.
Olmsted, a baritone and guitarist for the Mendicants in the mid 1970’s, has been a freelance software engineer since the early 1990’s and has concentrated on web development since 2008, specializing in the Ruby on Rails platform. For the Mendicant Alumni site he is using the Middleman static site building software, along with ‘slim’ and Tailwind CSS, and using Netlify for free hosting. By adding Netlify CMS admins will be able to update the content on the site at any time without coding.
